It's Alive!

Art's Alive Festival Logo

I’m happy to report that I have been accepted as one of the artists participating in the Arts Alive Festival of Fine Art this year. This juried show has long been a highlight of the Burlington artistic community, and I am excited to be one of the fifty-six artists chosen to participate. The website is just up and more information will be available there soon, but for a sneak peak, go here.

Two more paintings

I finished these up last night:

Corner Study
Corner Study. Acrylic, graphite, oil stick on vellum. 24x18", all rights reserved. It's an abstract of my studio. Then I started another abstracted studio piece, but it ended up like this:

After the 14th Argument
After the 14th Argument. Acrylic, graphite, colored pencil on vellum. 24x18", all rights reserved. Funny how one thing turns into another. Here's a detail shot:

Argument Detail I love how silly and quirky these feel- very hand of the artist. They're much looser in feel than the rest of the work I had been doing for the past few months. I'm going to try staying on paper for a few more piece, and then try doing this on canvas and see what happens.

You'd think it's summer

Burlington has been enjoying unseasonably high temperatures for the last several days. I took advantage of the beautiful weather and finally got around to fixing up my little porch.

metal chairs
These two chairs I got free of charge from a neighbor who was cleaning house. They needed to be scraped and cleaned, which I did, and the black & white one now has a nice new coat of powder blue paint! I also bought some plants, a couple of colorful hurricane lamps, and I found a great acrylic painting at Junktiques on South Willard Street.

parrot It only cost me twelve dollars. How could I pass that up? I also found a small pine table at Upstairs Antiques on Flynn Avenue for only $16. The final result?

porch Honestly, the flowers cost me more than everything else combined.

First Crush, Third Memory

I finished another painting in the False Memory series last night, it's called Third False Memory; Only the light was different. Acrylic on canvas, 16 x 20". I'm very happy with the piece, and may not be able to put it up for sale. I think it would look great in my kitchen.

Also, my friend Em sent me a link to this wonderful video, and since I'm working with memory for the painting series, I thought I'd post it here.

Duh

I am mortified.
